An Evening with Alan Watts & Jas Walton: EP Release Party May 19!

On Tuesday May 19th, join us in celebrating the release of Jas Walton's "Face the Facts: Words by Alan Watts" at Unoppressive Non-Imperialist Bargain Books (34 Carmine Street). It'll be a free listening party, live performance, and release celebration at this West Village bookstore, with tea and tea-infused gin provided throughout the night. The very first batch of 10-inch vinyl records will be on sale at the store, and Jas Walton will be there to sign them for you.

Since eastern philosopher Alan Watts would have turned 100 this year, we'll be screening some archival Watts footage and projects from the Alan Watts Audio Archive including Henry Jacobs' "The Fine Art of Goofing Off" and Mark Watts' biographic documentary film "Why Not Now" starting at 8pm.

As the sun goes down, Jas Walton & drummer Miles Arntzen will perform a live duo recreation of a couple of tracks from "Face the Facts" plus other never-before-heard Wattstrax and instrumental jams.

At 9:30pm sharp we will drop the needle on the EP for a listening session and meditate to all four tracks on vinyl. It's a short piece, so it'll be over before you know it. The late-night tea hang will continue into the bookstore's after-hours.
